Quantifying Vegetation Stability under Drought in the Middle Reaches of Yellow River Basin, China

چکیده

Under the background of climate warming, increase in frequency and severity drought leads to vegetation facing severe challenges. A comprehensive systematic assessment stability under stress middle reaches Yellow River basin (MRYRB) will help grasp characteristics response drought. In this study, normalized difference index (NDVI) was used achieve quantitative qualitative assessments drought, smoothed monthly standardized precipitation evapotranspiration (SPEI) describe events 2005/2006 identified parameters using a anomaly NDVI across space, which included resistance duration, resilience threshold, lag time. Vegetation dominated by less resilience. The event affected most study area, growth inhibited. duration over 100 days accounted for 65.7%, 89.4% regions could return normal within days. threshold gradually decreased from northwest southeast, time mainly concentrated 1 3 months. These findings contribute better understanding effects on environment, as well scientific references reducing ecological, economic, social losses future droughts, promoting ecological environmental governance high-quality development MRYRB.

Modelling complex flood flow evolution in the middle Yellow River basin, China

r Publis .030 : +1 413 mass.ed Summary Flood routing processes in the middle Yellow River basin are complex since they consist of three types of flood: bidirectional, convergent and divergent flood flows between the main channel and its tributaries. We propose three computation schemes to simulate the complex flood routing: a simple scheme for a single main channel with no tributary or backwate...

Regulating N Application for Rice Yield and Sustainable Eco-Agro Development in the Upper Reaches of Yellow River Basin, China

High N fertilizer and flooding irrigation applied to rice on anthropogenic-alluvial soil often result in N leaching and low recovery of applied fertilizer N from the rice fields in Ningxia irrigation region in the upper reaches of the Yellow River, which threatens ecological environment, food security, and sustainable agricultural development. This paper reported the regulating N application fo...

Dynamics of the lakes in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River basin, China, since late nineteenth century.

The middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River basin have the most representative and largest concentration of freshwater lakes in China. However, the size and number of these lakes have changed considerably over the past century due to the natural and anthropogenic impact. The lakes, larger than 10 km(2) in size, were chosen from relief maps and remotely sensed images in 1875, 1950, 1970, 1...

Evolutionary trends of drought under climate change in the Heihe River basin, Northwest China

The present paper focused on the analysis of drought in the Heihe River basin based on daily precipitation data observed at 13 weather stations covered from 1961 to 2010. The spatial and temporal variation of drought was estimated by means of the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), linear regression analysis and inverse distance weighted analysis. The SPI series on 1-month, 3-month, 6-month...

A Decision Support System for irrigation water allocation along the middle reaches of the Heihe River Basin, Northwest China

To improve the water resource management of the inland river basins of northwestern China, a Decision Support System (DSS) is developed to provide an operative computer platform for decision makers. The DSS is designed according to actual water resource management problems and is seamlessly integrated into a user-friendly interface implemented in the Visual C# programming language. The DSS comp...
